NH₂-MIL-125(Ti) is an amino-functionalized titanium metal–organic framework belonging to the MIL (Materials of Institut Lavoisier) family. Structurally, it is closely related to MIL-125(Ti), but the conventional terephthalate linker is replaced by 2-aminoterephthalate (2-amino-1,4-benzenedicarboxylate).
The framework is constructed from titanium–oxo clusters connected by aminoterephthalate ligands. The reported inorganic secondary building unit (SBU) is based on Ti₈O₈(OH)₄, while six aminoterephthalate ligands connect the Ti clusters into a three-dimensional porous structure.
The introduction of the –NH₂ functional group is particularly important because it modifies the optical and surface properties of MIL-125. In particular, NH₂-MIL-125 absorbs further into the visible region than unfunctionalized MIL-125, making it particularly interesting for photocatalysis and solar-driven chemical processes.
